Kitchen update 3
We would like a custom graphic printed on stainless steel for the splash backs and panel under the island bench. Also for the single cupboard along the side of island bench where the stools are, we'd like 1 panel with the drawers separated on the inside.
We are considering just having a bulkhead over the island bench instead of the overhead cupboards. Need to discuss this with you.
Bench height 925mm

Kitchen Update 2
White cupboards and white bench tops along the walls. White cupboards and black benchtop on island bench. Benchtops to be 30mm thick. We are seriously considering polished concrete for the benchtop but darkened to charcoal/dark grey/black.
We would like to remove the bulkhead over the kitchen area. We prefer to have less definition and more ceiling height.
Island bench
This is a very rough sketch of what we are thinking. To the right of the sink, we'd like the dishwasher to be intergrated so that it can't be seen. To the left of the sink, we'd like the whole cupboard to be the rubbish bin, preferably with the 2 large bins (waste and recycling side by side rather than front and back. Any other space we can fill with smaller bins with green rubbish for our worms. For the middle section under the sink, we found a drawer which we liked. We saw it at poliform and the above is the best that we can draw. We havent been able to find an exact photo with the below the closest we can find (on page E50). The one difference is that the one we saw at poliform had the little containers easily removable so it can be cleaned.
As you are looking at the island bench from the northern side (ie looking towards the stove.) We'd like to add a single pane of cupboard space and bring the benchtop down over that one side (on western side). So in essence there will now only be places for 3 to sit at the bench. Where the people's legs are, we plan to have a custom glass panel with Disney artwork and a strip of lighting to highlight it. Before we forget, we need to have some powerpoint at the bench top as well.
For the above head hanging cupboards, we were considering making the currently open cupboards you've drawn into wineglass holding wire frames on one side and perhaps Malcolm's wine holders on the other half. Not sure if this looks good. Will this interfere with lighting? Open for discussion and certainly open for suggestions as to alternative places for the wine.

Not the best example or picture but you get the idea! |
Southern side
The recessed cupboards above the windows to end at the window line and go all the way up to the ceiling. ie the spashback behind the stove will go all the way to the ceiling with only the rangehood on it.
Our freestanding falcon oven is 110cm wide a little bigger than the space that you have allowed. We have decided to go with the Schweigen rangehood (Designer rangehood 90cm) instead of the matching falcon rangehood.
We'd like the spashback to have a matt black/dark charcoal finish, preferably in the same material as the island bench top or polished concrete but darkened 200%. Concerned about suitability of polished concrete as splashback.
On either side of the over, we'd like to have 3 drawers. One shallow for utensils, and then 2 large ones below that. We're undecided as to whether or not to have the 2 larger ones the same size or to have the middle one smaller and the bottom one bigger. We need to measure our current pots and pans to determine exact drawer size. Make them the same size for the time being.
Can we please have cupboards above the fridge as well?
Eastern side
We would like to have full floor to ceiling cupboards along the eastern side of the kitchen. In the corner where it will be next to the window, we would like the below Hafele corner system.

This is very close to our kitchen except that ours will extend all the way up to the ceiling. |

We have tried our best to do a sketch of what we have in mind below. Please note that it is not to scale! And the number of shelves are random. We need to discuss practically how wide this open utility cupboard can be. Not sure if it will be a problem having a microwave next to the chiller drawer.

Questions we need to look up/check with you:
1) Suitability of polished concrete for bench top and splashback. eg stain resistance, maintenance, cost
2) Check our pots to determine exact drawer size.
3) Don't know where to put towel rails/tea towels

Miscellaneous
We currently have Spectra Lock from Laticrete http://www.spectralock.com/product_information/introduction.aspx for our grout in our showers. We unfortunately didn't come across this early enough to have it used for other areas in our bathrooms. The difference in the state of the grout elsewhere ie near the bath and that of the shower is incredible. Our shower still looks brand new after 5 years. We'd like to use this or something similar for the tiled areas.
Outdoors/Alfresco
We like the big tiles of the alfresco area below.
